Child rights dedicated court: Youth Justice Court - specialized courts set up to handle only cases involving young persons. They are held in specially designated courtrooms in the courthouse in your community. Youth justice courts, like all Canadian courts, are open to the public and members of the media. However, young persons have strict privacy rights and there are only limited circumstances when your name or any other information that might identify you can be published.
Child rights dedicated prosecutor: The Office of the Children's Lawyer represents children under the age of 18 in court cases involving custody and access and child protection, as well as in civil, and estates and trusts cases.
Child rights dedicated police department: Varies depending on police department. For example, Toronto Police Service has a Child Exploitation Section, the Vancouver Police Department has a counter Exploitation Unit with an ‘Internet Child Exploitation’ team and Edmonton Police Service has a Child Protection Section.

There is no independent Ombudsperson for Children at the federal level
The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate (OCYA) is an independent office of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, mandated to work with vulnerable young people.
The OCYA provides individual and systemic advocacy for children and youth receiving “designated services” as defined under the Child and Youth Advocate Act. This includes young people receiving or attempting to access services under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act and the Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act; or who are involved with the youth justice system. The OCYA also provides access to legal representation for young people receiving child intervention services, offers public education, and conduct investigations in serious injuries and deaths of young people receiving designated services.

Constitutional Provisions:
Preamble Commitment: Justice, liberty, equality, & fraternity for all the citizens including children are the main purpose of the Constitution.
Article 14: Equality before law & equal protection of laws. It is available to every person including children.
Article 15 (3): empowers the State to make special legal provision for children. It makes mandate to the government to ensure children’s welfare constitutionally.
Article 21: it mandates free & compulsory education for all the children in the age group of 6- 14 yrs.
Article 23: puts total ban on forced labor & is punishable under the Act. Article 24: prohibits employment of children in hazardous factories below the age of 14yrs.; e.g.: mine, match industries etc.
Article 51 A clause (k) & (j): the parent or the guardian to provide opportunities for education to his child or as case may be ward between the age of 6- 14 yrs.
